LA MAGAZINE'S DIGEST BLOG — Dog Haus Biergarten’s Foie Gras Sandwich is Just as Good as Its Puns — by Andy Wang
The Pasadena sausage purveyor will also serve foie fries this weekend
Foie gras on a bun—and on a budget—is coming to Dog Haus Biergarten in Pasadena this weekend.
The over-the-top Duck the Police sandwich, which competitive-eating destination Dog Haus will serve on Saturday and Sunday (if there are any left; the quantity is limited to 100) features a grilled Turducken sausage and seared foie gras, along with micro pea greens, fig relish, and hazelnuts toasted in brown butter, all of which pretty much make this a balanced meal.
At $15, it’s a wallet-friendly foie fix, an easy way to indulge now that the ingredient is no longer banned in California. Plus, here are four words you might not have expected to hear this year: foie gras combo meal. Ask for the $25 Duck, Duck, Juice this weekend and you’ll get the sandwich, an order of fries topped with foie gras fat, and a glass of Stags Leap Chardonnay for less than the price of a supplement on some tasting menus. Foie-get about it.
