ASKMEN — Must-Try New Restaurants: February 2015 — by Barbara Pavone
If You're Going To A Restaurant This Week, Here's Where You Need To Be Dining
February is most often stereotyped alongside January as a month when nothing really exciting ever happens and when staying indoors and binge-watching Netflix is the best your weekend can get. Well, I'm about to break that myth (hopefully) with these five restaurant launches. From Georgia to California and Quebec, I've scoped out this month's most exciting new restaus and believe me when I say, these openings are worth the effort of putting pants on and heading out to rejoin mankind. Here we go...
Dog Haus – Thousand Oaks, California
Cuisine: All. The. Hot. Dogs.
Address: 50 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.
There’s something to be said for gourmet hot dogs – they’re delicious. Judging by the success of Pasadena-based Dog Haus, which also serves up très fancy 100% natural black angus beef burgers and divine Haus sausages, I’m not the only one who thinks so.
With a focus on bringing everyone’s fave childhood food up several notches on the gourmet scale while pulling on their nostalgic heart strings, Dog Haus gives customers the chance to create their own dog or choose from instant classics, like Sooo Cali, which is topped with arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli and avocado. Or you can go for the one with THE best name: The Pig and The Fig.
The beer-battered onion rings also deserve props, as does the Mötley Bleu 2.0 burger, complete with soy-racha onions and bleu sriracha sauce, and The Fonz: A spicy Italian sausage served with pastrami and melted mozzarella cheese. I'll take one of everything please.
