Sure, there are a lot of great celebrations and parties that happen in July, but it's hard to top any festivity tied to it being National Hot Dog Month.

That's right — everyone's favorite childhood BBQ treat is finally getting the love and attention it deserves. Some chefs are even helping elevate it onto a golden pedestal with help from standout gourmet recipes.

Here are just four ways in which you can play up the classic and become summer's most beloved chef. Did we mention there's also a special recipe to really impress the ladies at your next bash? Oh, the suspense!

Downtown Dog
Let's start things off with a classic because, well, it's impossible to go wrong with something you grew up loving, right? Thanks, Dog Haus!

• 2 lbs Red Bell Peppers
• 1/4 tsp Celery Salt
• 1/4 tsp Cider Vinegar
• 2 tbs Garlic Oil
• 1 tsp Basil (chopped)
Directions: Roast the bell peppers on the grill until skin is blackened. Transfer to large bowl, cover with plastic wrap and cool 30 minutes at room temperature. Peel the peppers, take the seeds and stem out and slice into 1/8” strips. Combine with cider vinegar, garlic oil, basil and celery salt in a large bowl. Mix well.

Ingredients - Caramelized Onions
• 1 tsp Butter
• 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
• 1/2 tbs Salt
• 5 lbs Sweet Onions, diced
Directions: Heat up butter in a sautee pan on medium heat. Add sliced onions and stir often. Season with sale and pepper, cook until browned - approximately 10 minutes.

Ingredients - The Dogs
• King’s Hawaiian Bun (3 connected rolls, split down the side)
• All-Beef Hot Dog
• Smoked Bacon Slice
• Caramelized Onions
• Roasted Bell Peppers (sliced)
• Mayonnaise
• Ketchup
• Yellow Mustard
Directions: Using two toothpicks, secure one end of bacon to the hot dog and wrap all the way around until the whole dog is covered. Secure the other end with a second toothpick. Grill bacon-wrapped dog on low heat, turning often for 15 minutes. Toast bun on grill - use clarified butter to help! Place dog inside, add caramelized onions and roasted bell peppers on top. Zig-zag mayonnaise from end to end, then add ketchup and yellow mustard from end to end in a straight line. Serve in a paper boat!
