Now that the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade have passed, it’s time to celebrate 40 burgers in five days. The Pasadena Chamber of Commerce honors Lionel Sternberger during the event, which starts this weekend on Sunday, January 10th and goes through the 15th of January. Sternberger is reportedly the first person to put cheese on a hamburger to cover up a patty he burnt at his father’s roadside stand in 1924.

Umami Burger, Pie ‘n Burger, and Twohey’s Restaurant (featuring their famous Stinko burger with just onions and pickles) are just of the few burger joints included in Cheeseburger Week. Others participating will offer special burgers that week like the This or That Burger at Dog Haus Biergarten which is made with an “onion smashburger,” American Cheese and mayo.

You can also attempt to complete the Cheeseburger Challenge which includes trying a burger from each of the 40 participating restaurants. If you manage to get through that, you get to vote for your favorite online!
