VENTURA COUNTY STAR ONLINE — Seven Foodie Things To Do This Labor Day Holiday Weekend — by Lisa McKinnon
Pick a peck (or more!) of Roma tomatoes in Moorpark. Enjoy a free ice cream cone in Thousand Oaks. Toast the train with a glass of wine in Ventura. Yep, there's plenty to do, taste and see in Ventura County over the long holiday weekend.
6). ENJOY A FREE CONE. Two SoCal-based food businesses are teaming up, and the result is: free soft-serve ice cream cones on Monday, from 11 a.m. until supplies are gone.
The businesses in question are the Alhambra ice cream parlorFosselman's, which is branching into soft-serve ice cream for the first time in its nearly 100-year history, and Dog Haus, the gourmet hot dog chain. To celebrate the addition of Fosselman's soft-serve to the menus at selected Dog Haus sites, those sites will offer free vanilla cones on Labor Day. (Shakes made with vanilla, salty caramel and Ducth chocolate will be available for purchase.) And guess what?
Dog Haus in Thousand Oaks is on the free-cone list (50 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., 805-497-3644, http://www.doghaus.com)
